The Tadeusz Hołdys Meteorological Observatory on Śnieżka, the highest peak of the Karkonosze Mountains (1602 m above sea level), is an IMiGW facility with a long history dating back to 1824. The current, modernist building from 1966-1974, with a unique shape of three discs, was controversial but fits the architecture of that era. In addition to its observation functions, it offers a restaurant and a gift shop. Śnieżka is a place of extreme weather conditions – hurricane-force winds, fog, and heavy snowfall. The Observatory is an important point on the map of science and tourism, and inside you can learn about the work of meteorologists and the operation of measuring instruments. After damage in 2009, the upper disc was rebuilt, and the facility continues to conduct uninterrupted observations.Wikipedia
